Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy explains how Brierty Decoration ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects information about you when you visit briertydecoration.co.uk or get in touch with us. We aim to keep things simple and to handle your data with the same care we bring to our work.
Who we are
Brierty Decoration is a painting and decorating company based in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. For any privacy queries, contact Steve Brierty at steve@briertydecoration.co.uk or 07850 357414.
We are the data controller for the personal information described below.
What we collect
- Enquiry details — your name, email address, phone number, postcode and project description, when you submit our contact form or email us.
- Analytics data — anonymised information about how you use the site (pages viewed, device type, approximate location) via Google Analytics, only if you accept cookies.
Why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quotation.
- To carry out work you have asked us to do and keep in touch about it.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful so we can improve it.
Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are legitimate interest (replying to enquiries, running our business) and consent (analytics cookies).
Cookies
The site sets only the cookies required for basic functionality unless you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. If you accept, we load Google Analytics (ID G-BVX26S2NQ3), which sets cookies to measure aggregate visitor behaviour. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's site data for briertydecoration.co.uk.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers needed to run the site and our business:
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd) — anonymised usage data, only if you consent to cookies.
- Email and hosting providers — to store and deliver our correspondence with you.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as is reasonably needed to manage your project and our records, then delete or anonymise it. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default settings.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete your data, where there is no good reason for us to keep it.
- Object to or restrict our processing in certain circumstances.
- Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time.
To exercise any of these, email steve@briertydecoration.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any material changes will be reflected here with a revised "last updated" date.
