About Our Client
St Anne's College
St Anne's College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford, founded in 1879 as the Society of Oxford Home-Students. It became a full college of the University in 1959 and admitted men from 1979. With around 450 undergraduates and a thriving graduate community, St Anne's is one of the largest Oxford colleges and is known for its progressive ethos and architecturally varied Woodstock Road campus.

Why St Anne's College Trusts Brierty Decoration
St Anne's mixed estate — Victorian villas, mid-century blocks and contemporary award-winning buildings — needs a decorator equally at home with period detailing and modern finishes. Brierty Decoration brings that breadth alongside the logistical discipline a working Oxford college demands: tight vacation windows, sympathetic colour choices, and finishes built to take a year of busy student use.
The Project
St Anne's College traces its origins to 1879 and the movement to open Oxford education to women. Today it is fully co-educational and one of the largest colleges in the University, occupying a generous campus along the Woodstock Road just north of the city centre.
The estate is unusual in Oxford — a blend of original Victorian houses, post-war buildings by architects such as Howell, Killick, Partridge & Amis, and award-winning modern additions including the Ruth Deech Building. Decorating across this spectrum demands a team comfortable with both period mouldings and crisp contemporary surfaces.
Brierty Decoration has been engaged on redecoration across student accommodation, common rooms and academic spaces. We schedule the bulk of our work around the Oxford terms, mobilising quickly during vacations to deliver complete rooms and corridors back to the College in time for the next intake.
Our approach pairs honest preparation with carefully chosen heritage and contemporary paint systems from Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and other premium suppliers — finishes that look right under both natural light and the long hours of study lamp-light a College building has to endure.
